Treat church testimonies as fake unless verified – Fr Kelvin Ugwu
Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, a Catholic missionary priest serving in Gambia, has advised people not to be easily swayed by miraculous testimonies shared in churches or ministries.
His remarks follow the circulation of controversial videos featuring church members sharing extraordinary testimonies, which have sparked skepticism among many social media users.
A man claimed to have survived a kidnapping, machete attacks, and gunshot wounds “without injury,” raising doubts and concerns about the authenticity of the miracles.
However, the Catholic priest emphasized that such testimonies should be considered false and deceptive unless independently verified.
“Don’t be carried away by the miracle testimonies you hear in churches or ministries; as long as they have not been independently verified, treat them as fake and lies,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.
