Chelsea appoints Enzo Maresca as new coach
The Daily Telegraph reported that Italian coach, Enzo Maresca is set to join Chelsea on a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year. This move aims to bring stability to the club after a turbulent period under US investors Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly.
Enzo Maresca, previously Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, recently led Leicester to a swift Premier League return following their relegation. Chelsea, impressed by Maresca’s football style, sought a new manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino, who had managed the team for only one season.
Despite a strong finish that secured Chelsea a spot in the Europa Conference League, Pochettino left after missing out on Champions League qualification and a trophy, including narrow defeats in the League Cup final and FA Cup semi-finals.
