Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, swiftly retracted his words after being caught on camera revealing that a modest sum had been transferred to each Senator’s account as they commenced their vacation.

The legislators commenced their recess on August 8, and are scheduled to reconvene on September 26. During the plenary session on August 8, Akpabio unintentionally disclosed the transfer of a “small token” to Senators’ accounts by the National Assembly clerk to facilitate their holiday enjoyment.

Realizing he was on a live broadcast, he promptly corrected himself, stating, “”I withdraw that statement. In other to allow you enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you on a safe journey and return”
