Nigeria vs Australia: My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS – Oshoala

Asisat Oshoala, the Nigeria striker, has expressed that her father wasn’t happy about her choice of celebration following her goal in the Super Falcons’ 3-2 victory against Australia at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Barcelona forward seized on an Australian defensive mistake and slotted the ball home, securing Nigeria’s third goal and contributing to their hard-fought victory in their second match. Being a Muslim, Oshoala celebrated her goal by removing her shirt and revealing her sports bra.

While some members of the Muslim community expressed concerns that her celebration might go against their religious beliefs, Oshoala took to Instagram to reveal that her father was also unhappy with her actions. Despite this, the striker defended her choice of celebration, stating that “Life is a collection of moments.”

Sharing images from the celebration, she wrote: “My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS. #Alhamdulilah #Grateful #Moments”
