I Could’ve Benefitted From Petrol Subsidy Scam, But God Forbid’ — Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made it clear that he would not contribute to the economic decline of the country by supporting the continuation of petrol subsidies. He made this known during a reception held in his honor by the Lagos State government
Tinubu emphasized that the draining of the country’s finances through petrol subsidies must not be allowed to persist under any circumstance. He stated that in order to fulfill the promises made to Nigerians during their campaign, it is imperative to allocate resources wisely.
Tinubu acknowledged that he could have chosen to benefit personally from the arbitrage and participate in such practices, but he firmly rejected that notion, stating that it goes against the mandate given to him by the electorate.
The President assured Nigerians that they would witness the implementation of new and improved initiatives that would benefit citizens of all ages. Furthermore, he pledged to collaborate with the National Assembly and state governors to accomplish the goals set forth in his administration’s agenda of renewed hope.
“We will be needing the necessary resources to achieve the promise we made to Nigerians during our campaign
“We need to stop the bleeding of our finances through fuel subsidy and the arbitrary exchange regime. We have no choice.
“We have to re-engineer the effectiveness of control and management of our resources in order to meet the obligations owed to Nigerians.
“I could have said yes I want a share of my benefit and participate in the arbitrage. But no, God forbid. That’s not why you elected me,” he said.
that is true……
