Wike hails President Tinubu for suspending Emefiele
President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has received praise from Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State.
Last night, President Tinubu suspended Emefiele and instructed him to promptly hand over his duties to Folashodun Shonubi, the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) of the Apex bank.
In response to this development, Wike, who had previously criticized Emefiele’s policies, particularly the Naira redesign, commended the President for his bold and timely decision.
The former Governor of Rivers State also lauded President Tinubu for approving uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country, as stated in a statement by Wike’s media team.
Wike expressed his belief that the President’s actions would breathe new life into the nation’s judiciary. He further emphasized that he and other members of the G5 were impressed with the President’s focused and exemplary leadership, which they believe will guide the country towards prosperity.
