A lawsuit has been filed by Diezani Allison-Madueke, a former Petroleum Resources Minister, accusing the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of defamation. The lawsuit, submitted to the Federal High Court in Abuja, requests N100 billion as compensation for damages.
The writ of summons, dated May 26, instructs the Defendants to jointly and severally pay the Claimant the sum of N100,000,000,000.00 (100 billion naira) as a result of false, harmful, malicious, and defamatory publications made against Diezani on the publishing platform of the 1st Defendant, with the involvement of both the 1st and 2nd Defendants.
Additionally, Diezani insists that the EFCC and AGF publicly apologize to her in three national newspapers for the false, harmful, malicious, and defamatory publications made against her since her departure from Nigeria in 2015.
The EFCC and AGF have been given a 14-day period, starting from the date of receiving the summons, to present their defense.
