Igbo Presidency possible on National Consensus if not, I will run for president – Okupe
Former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, has expressed that an Igbo presidency can only be possible if there is a grand national consensus that supports it.
He shared this in a tweet via his twitter handle.
Okupe expressed that the national consensus can only materialise if the core north forgives the Igbos for the killing of Sardauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello, by Nigerian soldiers of Igbo extraction in the 1966 coup.
He concluded by stating that if a consensus is not reached, he will most likely run for President come 2023.
He wrote;
“An Igbo President is only possible if we are able to evolve a grand National Consensus on the project such as that which was enacted in 1999 when the two presidential candidates were Yoruba.
“A national consensus for Igbo Presidency cannot evolve until the core north forgives the Igbos for the killing of Sardauna of Sokoto by Nigerian soldiers of Igbo extraction in the 1966 coup.
“This is the political knot only the Igbo leaders must spearhead and with the support of other well-meaning Nigerians, resolve with a high level of humility and political dexterity.
“If this consensus emerges, in the interest of equity, fairness & national unity, I will shelve my ambition & support whoever is chosen as a candidate by my party.
However, in the event that this national consensus is not achievabe, I WILL RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2023 by God’s Grace
that is true…..
Is it only Igbo that carried out the coup? You are just looking for cheap popularity
It’s your Civic right and nobody is asking you not to run for the presidency, if you like do.
When you were there as a goodluck Jonathan spokesperson, you offer us nothing not to talk of when you will become president
If you were destined to rule Nigeria, you will surely get there without any stress or obstacles
Then if they can’t forgive them, they should let them go na. Is it by force to be together?.
