Kwara State Government to name stadium after Rashidi Yekini
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced that the Kwara State Sports Complex will be renamed after the late Super Eagles legendary striker, Rashidi Yekini. The Governor announced this on Thursday when he paid a visit to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare in Abuja, stating that it is part of the efforts made to immortalise the icon. “We will send a bill to the State House of Assembly to immortalize Rashidi Yekini with the name of the stadium changing after the approval,” he said

WAEC conducts exams in Chibok six years after abduction of schoolgirls
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has conducted the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), in Chibok Local Government, Borno State, the first time since the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in the area by Boko Haram insurgents, six years ago. Schools in the local government were closed by the Federal Government following the abduction of the girls from the Government Girls’ Secondary School Chibok on April 14, 2014. Nigerian journalist, Abubakar Jari has shared how some women in Bordo village of Jahun LGA in Jigawa State contributed N1000 each to buy a car to take pregnant women in the community to the nearest clinic. Fuel hike: Protesters arrested in Lagos
Some protesters have been arrested after taking to the streets of Lagos to speak against the increased fuel price. The protesters who held up placards which expressed how they felt towards the increased fuel price, began their march from the Nigeria Labour Congress House in Yaba, Lagos. They were however rounded off by police men at Ojuelegba. Footballer slumps and dies during match in Osun State.
A footballer in Osun State simply identified as Damilola, has died after he reportedly slumped during a football match in the Ido area of the state on Monday, September 7. Late Damilola who plays for Premier Football Club Ofatedo, was about to pass a free-kick to his teammate during the match when he slumped.
