First man cured of HIV dies of Cancer
The first person to be cured of HIV, Timothy Ray Brown, has died of cancer. NAN reports that Brown, known, as the “Berlin Patient”, died on Tuesday after battling with recurrent leukaemia for several months. Returning Subsidy will cause Petrol scarcity – Timipre Sylva
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has stated that the return of fuel subsidy will lead to scarcity of fuel in the country. The Federal government recently announced the stoppage of fuel subsidy which has resulted in a hike in the price of petroleum. NERC finally suspends Electricity Tariff for 14 days
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Wednesday directed the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to suspend the Sept. 1 new tariff. The commission’s suspension order of the Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) 2020 signed by Prof James Momoh, NERC’s Chairman was released on its website on Wednesday. The suspension, which followed a joint communique issued by the Federal Government and the labour unions is for 2 weeks. FCTA acting secretary, Umar Marafa is dead
The Federal Capital Territory Administration. FCTA, Acting Secretary and Director of Administration and Finance, DAF, Malam Umar Marafa is dead. Marafa died in Kaduna on Monday evening though the cause of his death has not been disclosed. According to the Nation, the Public Relations Officer of FCT Education Secretariat, Mr. Kabiru Musa, who confirmed the incident, expressed shock over the death of his boss.
