Lagos-Ibadan Train fare to cost between N3000 and N6000 – Amaechi
The federal government has disclosed that Nigerians will have to pay between N3,000 and N6,000 as transport fare for the Lagos-Ibadan train route. This was according to a statement by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Friday during the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria. He said he had received the mandate from President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the Lagos/Ibadan rail project adding that the train services will be operational by January 2021. Appeal Court upholds Maryam Sanda’s death sentence for the murder of her husband
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the death sentence handed to Maryam Sanda, convicted for murdering her husband Bilyaminu Bello, a cousin of former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Haliru Bello. A three-man panel of the court, in a judgment on Friday afternoon, dismissed Sandra’s appeal for lacking in merit. Maryam was earlier this year, by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, convicted for murder and ordered to be hanged.

Court remands Maina in Kuje Correctional Centre
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja led by Justice Okon Abang has ordered the remand of Abdulrasheed Maina at Kuje Correctional Centre pending the conclusion of his trial. At the resumed trial on Friday, the counsel representing Maina, Adaji Abel formally withdrew and the counsel engaged by Mr Maina asked for a short adjournment to enable him to study the facts of the case. Police extradite Maina from Niger Republic
Former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina has been successfully extradited to Nigeria from Niger Republic. According to reports, Maina was brought back into the country on Thursday by a plane that landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at around 2.15 pm. He was received by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force upon return to the country. Maina was arrested on Monday evening in Niger republic after jumping bail following a trial in a 2bn money laundering case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
