The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, receiving treatment. World bank approves $1.5billion loan for Nigeria
The World Bank has approved Nigeria’s request for a loan of $1.5 billion. This was announced in a statement by World Bank on Tuesday noting that the facility is a five-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) that will last from 2021 to 2024. “This Country Partnership Framework will guide our engagement for the next 5 years in supporting the Government of Nigeria’s strategic priorities by taking a phased and adaptive approach,” World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Shubham Chaudhuri said. COVID-19: Kaduna State shuts down all Schools
The Ministry of Education in Kaduna State has directed all schools in the State to close on Wednesday, 16th December 2020 following the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state. This was contained in a statement on Monday by the Commissioner of Education, Dr Shehu Muhammad Makarfi. Boko Haram claims kidnapping of students in Katsina State
The Boko Haram sect has claimed responsibility for the abduction of over 300 students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Katsina State on Friday. It was reported that the gunmen stormed the boarding school on foot during the day time, collected student belongings, and led a large number of them into the bush. Ede Polytechnic rector suspended for fixing a king-sized bed in his office
Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ede, John Adekolawole has been suspended by the institution’s academic board on grounds of “sleeping at work” as he fixed a king sized bed in his office. WAEC to bar cheating students from sitting for it’s exams
The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has approved sanctions for students and schools who have reported cases of Exam Malpractice. This was according to a communiqué released by the body at its 70th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the council held from Thursday to Saturday last week in Lagos. IGP orders deployment of SWAT Operatives for routine operations
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate deployment of recently trained officers of the special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT) for routine operations. The directive was contained in a statement by Adamu addressed to all Assistant IGP’s and Commissioners of Police across the country on Monday. “The Inspector-General of Police directs that all recently selected and trained Special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT) operatives are to be deployed for routine duties across areas of responsibility immediately,” the statement read.

Hotelier and one other assassinated in Delta
Unknown gunmen have assassinated the owner of Widisag Hotel located in Udu council area of Delta state, Elvis Otedafe Onojerame alongside a friend on Sunday night, December 13. According to reports, the suspected assassins shot the deceased hotelier at close range inside his Mercedes Benz car before killing his friend.
