WAEC to bar cheating students from sitting for it’s exams
The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has approved sanctions for students and schools who have reported cases of Exam Malpractice. This was according to a communiqué released by the body at its 70th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the council held from Thursday to Saturday last week in Lagos. The body agreed that guilty students will be barred for a certain number of years while the schools guilty of malpractice will be de-recognised for a number of years or have their recognition completely withdrawn. IGP orders deployment of SWAT Operatives for routine operations
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate deployment of recently trained officers of the special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT) for routine operations. The directive was contained in a statement by Adamu addressed to all Assistant IGP’s and Commissioners of Police across the country on Monday. “The Inspector-General of Police directs that all recently selected and trained Special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT) operatives are to be deployed for routine duties across areas of responsibility immediately,” the statement read.

Hotelier and one other assassinated in Delta
Unknown gunmen have assassinated the owner of Widisag Hotel located in Udu council area of Delta state, Elvis Otedafe Onojerame alongside a friend on Sunday night, December 13. According to reports, the suspected assassins shot the deceased hotelier at close range inside his Mercedes Benz car before killing his friend. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the police have launched an investigation into the matter. “it is true. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reacted to the abduction that took place at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State on Friday.
