33-year-old suspect, Hassan Ebere was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Borno Command while processing dead poultry meat he picked from a river in Maiduguri. The suspect revealed that he sold 6,000 dead poultry to residents of Maiduguri for five years so as to raise money for his livelihood since he lost his father.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has stated that there will be no mass disconnection of telephone subscribers over National Identity Numbers (NIN) registration. The agency which said the current linkage of SIM registration records with the NIN was aimed at enhancing general safety and helping the government to plan for national development, said the clarification became necessary as many subscribers had become jittery that their lines might be disconnected over NIN registration. FG suspends hike in Electricity Tariffs till end of January
The Federal Government has directed the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to inform all Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to reverse the electricity hike tariff that was applicable in December 2020. The directive was made known in a statement by Aaron Artima, the Senior Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Power, Mr Saleh Mamman, on Thursday.
