We pay compensation of N100,000 to farmers and herders if there’s destruction due to a misunderstanding – Governor Okezie Ikpeazu
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has said his administration has decided to compensate farmers and herders a sum of N100,000 in case of any misunderstanding from both parties. Appearing on a Channels Television programme, the Abia state Governor revealed that there is a Farmers-Herders Resolution Committee in the state which is headed by the Commissioner of Police. According to him, the compensation will be paid for any cow that is killed on account of a misunderstanding between the farmers and the herders and also for farmlands destroyed by strayed cows. Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has called on the Federal Government to invite popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho to help in the fight against insurgency. Mr Igboho has been in the news recently over his quit notice to armed herdsmen in Ibarapa area of Oyo State to vacate the area.
