Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister has charged Ahmad Gumi, popular Islamic cleric, to disclose his benefits from banditry and how much commission he gets from abducted students. In a tweet, the former Aviation Minister called on the Islamic cleric to reveal foreign countries funding Fulani terrorists and causing havoc in Nigeria. Lagos #EndSARS panel awards N10m to Kolade Johnson’s family
The Lagos judicial panel has awarded the sum of N10 million to the family of Kolade Johnson, one of the many victims of police extrajudicial killing. Johnson was shot during a raid by police officers at Onipetesi area in Lagos while watching an English premiership match between Tottenham and Manchester United on March 31, 2019. The trigger-happy officers were identified as Ogunyemi Olalekan, a police inspector, and Godwin Orji, a sergeant. Sheikh Gumi denies being summoned by DSS
Controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has reacted to reports that he was summoned by the Department of State Services, DSS. Gumi however dismissed the report. Reports had it that the popular Islamic cleric was summoned by DSS over his allegations against security operatives. Gumi had alleged that some police and army officers were colluding with bandits which tthe Army had denied while warning Gumi against making such claims. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a Chairman and an Executive Secretary for the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). According to a statement signed by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the Chairman, Mr Atuonwo A. Obinna, while the Executive Secretary Mr Abdulkadir Saidu was reappointed for another four years. The Department of State Services has reportedly invited controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning over his recent comments claiming that Nigerian soldiers aid bandits’ activities. It was gathered that the controversial Islamic cleric was summoned to the DSS office in Kaduna State, according to the Hausa service of the Voice of America, monitored on Friday.
