FG suspends Twitter Operation in Nigeria
The federal government has suspended the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria The minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the indefinite suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday. He noted the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence. The minister said the federal government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

Breaking: Police Council confirms Baba as IGP
The Police Council on Friday confirmed the appointment of Alkali Usman Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police. The Police Council meeting was presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja. Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, said the appointment of Baba as IGP was unanimously confirmed. This follows Alkali’s appointment by the President on the 6th of April. The minister said Buhari directed the IGP to ensure insecurity in the country is brought to the barest minimum.

The Federal Government has decried the rate at which Nigerians youths renounce their citizenship in pursuit of greener pasture.
