Nigeria Immigration suspends new applications for international passports nationwide
The Nigeria Immigration Service has suspended new applications for international passports till the 1st of June 2021. The Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammed Babandede made the announcement on Tuesday, May 18, during a press briefing in Abuja. Mr. Babandede said the directive was given by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. “The process of receiving and processing all fresh passport applications nationwide is suspended till 1st June 2021, when the new passport regime would have taken effect,” he said. El-Rufai sacks nurses, warns KASU lecturers over strike
Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sacked all nurses below Level 14, who abandoned their duty posts to participate in the strike spearheaded by the Nigeria Labour Congress. Buhari seeks Senate approval for fresh N2.3trn external loan
President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to approve another N2.3trillion ($6.18bn) external loan. This is contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and read at plenary on Tuesday. Buhari said the proposed loan which is equivalent to N2.3trillion is to finance the 2021 budget deficit of N5.6 trillion. Buhari said the loan would enable the Federal Government to fund critical infrastructural projects in transportation, health, and education among others.
