NBC suspends license of Brekete Radio
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has on Thursday, May 27th suspended the license of Human Rights Radio. The travails of the station began after Ahmed Isah, its owner, who is also the host of Berekete Family, a programme on the radio station, was caught assaulting a woman who appeared on the show. Isah later tendered an apology to the woman and admitted that he overreacted. Police arrest gunmen who attacked Ortom on his farm in March.
The Nigerian Police says it has arrested some men that were allegedly involved in the failed attack on the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali, disclosed this on Thursday at a special briefing of State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “Those who organised and those who pulled the trigger have all been arrested and investigation is ongoing,” Alkali said. A suspected armed robber has been beaten to death by an angry mob in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital. Boko Haram terrorists reportedly abduct travellers along Damaturu-Maiduguri road
Some travellers were on Wednesday May 26, abducted by Boko Haram terrorists along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Road. According to report, the incident occurred at about 9am, two hours after the expiration of it’s curfew. The insurgents mounted a roadblock around Mainok town, roughly 55 kilometers away from Maiduguri. Upon arrival, they reportedly opened fire on commuting vehicles some of which escaped, but an unlucky passenger bus drove into the hands of the criminals who had by then mounted a checkpoint.
