NBA threatens lawsuit against FG over Twitter suspension
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened to sue the Federal government following the decision to suspend Twitter’s operations in Nigeria. In a statement released on Friday evening, June 4, Olumide Apata, NBA president, said the federal government lacked constitutional authority to back its decision. FG suspends Twitter Operation in Nigeria
The federal government has suspended the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria The minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the indefinite suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday. He noted the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence. The minister said the federal government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

Breaking: Police Council confirms Baba as IGP
The Police Council on Friday confirmed the appointment of Alkali Usman Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police. The Police Council meeting was presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja. Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, said the appointment of Baba as IGP was unanimously confirmed.
