12 killed, 28 injured as suspected Fulani militia attack cultural festival in Plateau
Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias have killed twelve persons and injured 28 others at Chando Zerreci community, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was gathered that the incident occurred as the people of Irigwe ethnic nationality of the state were celebrating ‘Zerreci’, an annual festival meant to usher in the rainy/farming season. A member of the community, Micheal Danjuma who escaped the attack by the whisker disclosed that the incident happened on Saturday, April 2, at about 11:45 pm. The mosque committee of Apo legislative quarters, Abuja, has suspended its Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, over a sermon he delivered on Friday, April 1. During his sermon, Sheikh Khalid spoke about the government’s failure to handle insecurity in the country.
