The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah has said his nephew and a driver who were kidnapped over three months ago are still in captivity. Kukah disclosed this on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the ongoing high-level forum on political communication and issue-based campaign in the 2023 general elections in Abuja. Masquerades Flog pastor and members after invading Plateau church
A church in Shikal village of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State was invaded by masquerades on Sunday September 18. The Pastor of the church and worshippers were flogged by the masquerades who disrupted the church service. The church members who did not confront the masquerades reportedly gathered to salvage what was left of their properties which were also destroyed during the attack. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday, September 19, sentenced kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping one Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia and collecting $420,000 as ransom from his family. They were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Hafia at about 5:30 pm on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos.
