ASUU must compensate students for wasted time – Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has said that the Academic Staff Union of Universities should be compensating students for the time wasted during the six-month strike The Minister said this at the 47th Session of the State House Ministerial Briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. He said the government will not concede to the union’s demand to pay lecturers their emoluments for the six months of no academic activities. He further suggested that the affected students should “take ASUU to court” to claim damages incurred over the strike period.

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has commenced an investigation into N18.6 billion allegedly spent on bush clearing and land preparation by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2020. The Chairman of the Committee, Oluwole Oke (PDP, Osun), said this was discovered during an investigative hearing. Electricity workers call off their strike that caused Nationwide blackout
The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has called off its nationwide strike which threw the country into a total blackout. The decision followed an emergency conciliation meeting between the striking electricity workers and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on Wednesday, August 17. The minister’s spokesman Olajide Oshundun, announced that Ngige intervened in the industrial action. NUEE Secretary General, Joe Ajaero, assured that electricity would be restored across the country tonight. The workers shut down all Transmission Companies of Nigeria (TCN) offices earlier today.
