Kidnap kingpin, Evans and his accomplice sentenced to 21-year imprisonment for kidnapping and collecting $420,000 ransom
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday, September 19, sentenced kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping one Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia and collecting $420,000 as ransom from his family. They were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Hafia at about 5:30 pm on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed the absence of monkeypox vaccine in the country. The agency stated this in response to concerns that the ongoing monkeypox pandemic might become more fatal, as vaccines, treatments and tests are unavailable in much of the world, especially Africa .
