President Buhari loses his Nephew
President Buhari’s nephew, Ibrahim Dauda is dead. A statement released by the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu yesterday May 30, said Dauda died in Daura, Katsina state, following a prolonged illness. In a condolence message, the President stated he is deeply devastated by Dauda’s death “I am deeply touched and devastated by the passing of yet another family member, a man who had demonstrated amazing kindness and honesty in all his dealings,” the president said Late Dauda is survived by a number of children, including Ibrahim, a chief administrative officer in the statehouse, Abuja.

Close to $1bn stolen under Abacha Regime – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that close to $1bn was “stolen under a previous, undemocratic junta in the 1990s, though the President did not mention Abacha by name, it was apparent he was referring to the deceased dictator. Former NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru is Dead
A former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, is dead. The sad news was shared by the current NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari in a tweet via his twitter handle. Though he failed to share the cause of his death, he disclosed that the former GMD died on midnight of Saturday. Hr wrote: “My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. “He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him.”

The Lagos state police command have released photos of the police officers accused of killing 17-year-old Tina Ezekwe in the Iyana-Oworo area of the state. Read previous story here. Abia State Government has released photos of the man who absconded from a holding facility in the state after testing positive for COVID-19. Emmanuel Ononiwu escaped from a holding facility in Aba just before he was to be moved to an isolation centre. A member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Yahaya Adamu aka Saad Karami, has voluntarily surrendered to the Nigerian Army. A statement released by the Defence Headquarters today May 29, says Yahaya voluntarily surrendered to troops of 242 Battalion in Monguno on May 24.
