“There Is No Plan to Delay the 2027 General Elections” — Tinubu’s Aide dismisses claims
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has dismissed claims by African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that the Federal Government plans to postpone the 2027 general elections.
Atiku had alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) wanted to change the election date following its experience at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State.
“I’ve heard that they want to change the election date because of what happened in Kaduna. Whatever the reason, they must hold the election, and when they do, we will vote them out,” Atiku said.
Responding, Olusegun described the allegation as false, insisting that Tinubu and the APC were neither aware of nor involved in any plan to delay the elections.
He also defended the administration’s handling of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saying the electoral body had improved under Tinubu’s leadership and that the President remained committed to its independence.
Olusegun further described the APC’s Kaduna rally as successful, claiming that party supporters from across the state’s local government areas attended to show their support for Tinubu.
