“We Are Not Truly Practising Democracy in Nigeria” — Adekunle Gold
Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold has said Nigeria is not practising true democracy, expressing concern over the state of democratic governance in the country.
Speaking on the One54 Podcast, the singer explained that he believed his colleague, Davido, appealed to US President Donald Trump to pay attention to the recently concluded Osun State governorship election because of concerns about Nigeria’s democratic process.
“I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria. We are not doing what a democratic society should do,” he said.
Adekunle Gold said he hoped President Bola Tinubu’s administration would perform better than the previous government by promoting good governance and upholding democratic values.
