Benue Killings: 2Baba calls for urgent action, says ‘we can’t pretend anymore’

Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has condemned the continued killings in Benue State, describing the attacks on communities in Otukpo Local Government Area as unacceptable.

The Benue-born singer spoke on Wednesday during a visit to Otukpo-Nobi, one of the communities recently attacked by suspected armed herders.

The visit came weeks after gunmen attacked the community on July 12, 2026, killing at least 10 residents and leaving several others injured.

Sharing a video from the visit on his Instagram page, 2Baba said the pain of Benue residents was a collective concern, urging unity and commitment towards finding lasting solutions to the insecurity.

“Benue is home. When home hurts, we all feel it. Today is about standing together, listening, and reminding one another that hope is never lost,” he wrote.

Addressing residents of the affected community, the singer expressed sympathy with victims and their families, while calling on stakeholders to work together to end the recurring violence.

He lamented the rising cases of bloodshed in the state, saying the situation had become too serious to be ignored.

“It’s becoming too much now, we can’t pretend anymore. We need to begin planning. It won’t be automatic, but there is definitely going to be a solution,” 2Baba said.

The music star stressed that resolving the security challenges would require the collective efforts of government, communities and other stakeholders.

“It’s not going to be one person, we all need to come together and fight it. I came to sympathise with you all. It’s painful,” he added.
