“We May Be Getting Used to Violence” — Vector Raises Concern Over Insecurity

Nigerian rapper Vector has expressed concern that the constant wave of kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks across the country may be making Nigerians numb to tragedy.

Speaking in a recent video, the rapper said discussions about insecurity now feel repetitive because people have been speaking about the same issues for years without seeing significant change.

“We have talked and talked and talked. It’s almost becoming stale,” he said, warning that society risks becoming desensitised to disturbing incidents such as kidnappings and killings.

Referencing the era of the notorious “One Million Boys” gang in Lagos, Vector recalled how residents reportedly formed local vigilante groups to protect their communities when security challenges escalated.

He questioned the quality of leadership and accountability in the country, stressing that the worsening security situation requires urgent attention and collective action.

The rapper’s comments have resonated with many Nigerians who continue to express frustration over the persistent insecurity affecting communities across the country.
