“People Look at Me Like I’ll Die Soon” — Adekunle Gold Opens Up on Sickle Cell Struggles

Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has spoken about the stigma and painful experiences he has faced living with sickle cell disease.

In an interview with Angela Yee, the singer revealed that people often react with pity or fear whenever he tells them about his condition.

He also recalled enduring a severe sickle cell crisis at age 20 that made him pray for death due to the unbearable pain.

“At 20, I had the craziest crisis of my life. I told God to take my life,” he said.

Adekunle Gold, however, expressed gratitude for surviving the condition and continuing to push forward despite the challenges.
