“Have you thought about removing the source of your problem” – Mental health nurse practitioner asks men who cheat after a patient chopped off his p3nis

US-based Nigerian psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Semiloore Akerele, has called out men who claim they cannot control themselves from cheating.

Her reaction followed a case she shared about a patient who mutilated himself, believing his infidelity was caused by his sexual urges.

Akerele questioned such reasoning, urging men to take responsibility for their actions rather than blaming their behaviour on lack of control

During one of my nursing rotations, we had a patient who amputated his own p3nis yes, exactly as it sounds. He chopped his peepee, she wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, March 23. “When we reviewed his history, he explained that he did it because he believed it was the source of his infidelity.  “After a heated argument with his wife about his repeated cheating, he decided to remove the problem himself. This isnt a secondhand story, I was directly involved in his care.  “When he first arrived at the ER, the team attempted surgical reattachment, but unfortunately the tissue became gangrenous after some days, and a full amputation was ultimately required. “Clearly, there were significant psychiatric factors at play. “But it does make you pause and think “For men who say they cant help or unintentionally cheat, what does that really mean? Have you thought about removing the source of the problem?
