Bandits raid girls secondary school in Kebbi, kill vice principal, kidnap several students
Armed bandits stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga in Danko-Wasagu LGA of Kebni state killing the Vice Principal and abducting an unknown number of students.
The attackers reportedly struck late at night, leaving the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, dead after he bravely attempted to protect his students during the invasion.
A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, described the attack as devastating and terrifying, saying the bandits operated freely without resistance.
“It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire region into deep fear and mourning,” she said.
The exact number of kidnapped students is still uncertain, as officials have yet to release a formal statement. Meanwhile, the community is grieving the loss of Makuku, widely regarded as a dedicated teacher who put his students first, even in the face of danger.
Security agencies are being urged to act swiftly to rescue the abducted girls and to reinforce protection for schools across vulnerable communities in the region.
