People Now Flying Into Nigeria To Join Planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow Protest At Aso Rock — Sowore

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore says the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow campaign has evolved into a “powerfully uniting movement” ahead of the planned October 20, 2025 march to Aso Rock Villa.

In a post on his social media handles, Sowore revealed that supporters of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu were travelling from within and outside Nigeria to demand his unconditional release, stressing that the protest cuts across ethnic and political lines.

“They are coming not as tribes or parties, but as people united by conscience, courage, and the demand for justice,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, condemned his continued trial as illegal and unconstitutional, arguing that Nigeria lost jurisdiction to prosecute him after his extraordinary rendition from Kenya in 2021.

Ejimakor likened Kanu’s case to the 1984 attempted kidnapping of Umaru Dikko, saying both represented grave state crimes under international law. He urged Nigerians and civil society groups to reject the ongoing trial and rally behind the #MNKOct20 campaign for Kanu’s release.
