Tinubu Mourns Arise TV Anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed grief over the tragic death of Ms. Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, an Arise News anchor killed during an armed robbery at her Katampe, Abuja residence on Monday, September 29.
In a statement by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President conveyed condolences to Maduagwu’s family, Arise News management, and the wider Nigerian media community.
Tinubu described the loss as deeply painful and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting citizens by intensifying efforts to tackle crime and insecurity nationwide.
” Ms Maduagwu was a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner. Security and law enforcement agencies should conduct a quick and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay”.
