“First-class graduates like Soludo, Okonjo Iweala, are praising the President’s handling of the economy, and a common petty trader, like Peter Obi is condemning it” – Reno Omokri
Political commentator Reno Omokri has sparked discussions on social media after weighing in on the ongoing debate over President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
Omokri in a post on X pointed to the endorsements coming from globally respected economists like Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Professor Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State and former Central Bank of Nigeria chief. Both figures, who boast First-Class degrees in Economics and advanced academic credentials, have spoken positively about Tinubu’s economic direction.
In contrast, Omokri questioned the credibility of criticism from opposition figure Peter Obi, describing him as a “common petty trader” with a Second-Class degree in Philosophy. He posed a rhetorical question to Nigerians: “Who should you believe?”
He wrote; ”If people who graduated with a First Class in Economics, and studied up to Phd level, like Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and Professor Charles Soludo, are praising President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy, and a common petty trader, like Peter Obi, whose highest educational qualification is a Second Class in Philosophy is condemning the President’s economic policies, who should you believe?
