Anybody can defeat Tinubu in free, fair election – Activist, Maxwell Opara
Lawyer and activist Dr. Maxwell Opara has dismissed former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi’s claim that he could easily defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying any serious politician could unseat Tinubu in a free and fair election due to widespread public dissatisfaction with the current administration.
Speaking on Arise TV, Opara argued that Nigerians are angry with the government and advised Amaechi to abandon hopes of securing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket, which he claimed is already reserved for Atiku Abubakar.
Well, when you’re talking about the political achievements of Amaechi that’s out of it. Anybody, anybody who is serious that comes out in 2027 will defeat President Tinubu. Be it El-Rufai, be it Atiku or Peter Obi. Any of them can defeat Tinubu. Because of the economic challenges in the present Nigeria, Nigerians are frustrated, and as a result of their frustration, they needed a change.
“They don’t want to know who is coming. Only thing they don’t want to see is President Tinubu and APC. Going by his unpopular policies, going by the unnecessary spending and wastages, going by the way he’s handling the case of Nnamdi Kanu, a lot of issues put together. Nigerians are tired of President Tinubu and his government.
“Now, on whether Amaechi will win. He will, first of all, before you go to heaven, you’ll first of all die. Amaechi will, first of all, get the ticket of ADC.
“On whether he will get the ADC ticket of ADC, I say no, he cannot get that ADC ticket. It is for Atiku Abubakar. They won’t even give it to Peter Obi.
“So if he’s thinking about getting that ticket, he should just wake up from sleep.”
