2027: Jonathan ready to run again – Close ally claims

A close ally of former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that Jonathan may be gearing up to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election under the PDP platform.

According to Vanguard, the ally claims that efforts to draft Jonathan back into the race are well advanced, with the former president allegedly accepting to run in a bid to tackle Nigeria’s growing poverty and hardship. Key political figures and elders, who credit Jonathan with stabilizing the country during his previous tenure, are reportedly leading the push for his return.

Jonathan is said to have begun behind-the-scenes consultations, including a recent meeting with former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, where he discussed running for a single term. He is also currently engaging with stakeholders across the South-South to gather support.

While Jonathan has not publicly confirmed his intentions, political activities around him suggest serious preparations are underway.
