British author and podcaster Toni Tone is sparking conversation following a bold remark she made on a recent episode of her podcast.
Tone addressed the sensitive topic of emotional incest, highlighting how certain mothers form overly possessive and inappropriate bonds with their sons, bonds that resemble romantic attachments rather than healthy parent-child relationships. She emphasized how such dynamics can negatively impact the sons’ romantic partnerships.
“I’m going to say it frankly,” she began, “you don’t want to be with a man who commits emotional incest with his mother.”
”When men like that enter romantic relationships, those women suffer,” she added. “Because the real girlfriend and wife in that equation is his mother. You come secondary.”
Toni also stressed the importance of priorities in marriage, noting that once a man starts his own family, his wife and home should come first.
“You do not want to be with a man who dismisses that covenant and cares more about his mother’s opinions and feelings over yours.”
