Wike vs Fubara: The battle may not be over but let peace return to Rivers for now – Shehu Sani
Former senator Shehu Sani has welcomed the reconciliation between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his former political mentor, Nyesom Wike, describing it as positive news.
However, Sani noted that while the peace deal is a step forward, the underlying conflict may not be fully resolved. He emphasized the importance of allowing peace to return to the state.
Reacting via his X handle on Friday, Sani also suggested that some of Fubara’s supporters, who backed him during the rift, may feel disappointed by the truce, as they had hoped he would continue resisting Wike.
He wrote: “The reconciliation efforts in Rivers is good news. Peace needs to return to the state and Fubara needs to return to his seat as soon as possible. I know that those who fought for Fubara are not happy and wants him to continue fighting. Fubara is Sim and not Comrade Sowore. The battle may not be over but let peace return to Rivers for now.”
