When I came after Nigerian pastors, I lost everything – Daddy Freeze speaks on religious bias in Nigeria
Controversial media personality Daddy Freeze has opened up about the heavy personal cost of his outspoken criticism of Nigerian pastors, revealing that it led to the total collapse of his business.
In a candid conversation with entrepreneur Stephen Akintayo, the former OAP disclosed, “When I came after Nigerian pastors, I lost 100% of my business… I lost everything. It all went like that.” He admitted that taking a stand against questionable religious practices came at a steep price.
Freeze also addressed religious intolerance in Nigeria, recounting a tragic story about a young Muslim man who was denied a job solely because of his faith, and later died in a building collapse. He criticized the lack of religious inclusivity, stating, “Muslims are more open to working with Christians than the other way round.”
Speaking on his controversial divorce, Freeze acknowledged that his ex-wife had accused him of domestic violence. In a rare admission, he said, “We used to fight. And the fight used to get physical.” He further noted how Nigerian society stigmatizes divorce, saying people often assume something must be wrong with anyone who leaves a marriage.
Overall, Freeze’s comments highlighted his personal struggles, the societal cost of challenging religious norms, and the urgent need for greater tolerance and honesty in Nigeria.
