Stop calling my child Duduke, that’s not her name – Simi tells fans

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has asked the public to stop referring to her daughter, Adejare, as “Duduke.”

It was reported that Simi released a song titled ‘Duduke’ in anticipation of her child’s birth in 2020. Consequently, after she and her husband, fellow singer Adekunle Gold, welcomed their first child, Adejare, in June 2020, some fans began calling their daughter ‘Duduke’ after the popular hit song.

In a recent conversation with VJ Adams, Simi explained that she doesn’t appreciate people calling her child Duduke, emphasizing that the word doesn’t have a specific meaning. According to her, ‘Duduke’ was simply an onomatopoeia she used in the song to express the sound of her baby making her heart beat.

She said, “People call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t even mean anything. Had it meant something good, I would have allowed it. But it’s just a beat, duduke, duduke. That was what I meant. My heart beats like a drum.” Simi added, “Stop calling my child Duduke. But you know what? I get it, it’s coming from a good place, so I try not to react.”
