Peter Enenche Hails President Tinubu as Nigeria’s Foremost Living Democratic Hero as Nigeria commemorates 26 years of uninterrupted democracy.
Prominent political analyst and event compere, Peter Obonyilo Enenche, widely known as Enenche Enenche, has lauded President Bola Tinubu as the nation’s “foremost living democratic hero.”
Enenche believes that President Tinubu’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s democratic progression distinguish him.Enenche, a devoted supporter of President Tinubu who often wears Tinubu’s “broken-chain caps” at events he hosts, noted that the President played a crucial, behind-the-scenes role during the historic presidential campaign of Chief M.K.O. Abiola, a figure who symbolized hope for many Nigerians.
In a congratulatory message to the President on his two years in office, Enenche extended his wishes for Tinubu’s success in his continued endeavors to fortify democracy and governance throughout the country.
He wrote: “President Tinubu is a man of many strengths, and a chunk of those strengths havery been used to deepen democratic elements in Nigeria.
“He was there behind Chief M.K.O. Abiola when a nation’s thumbprints pointed towards hope that never saw the light of day. He later became the face of the struggle to enthrone democracy.
“He went into exile and never gave up pressing his country towards democracy, risking the brunt of military rule. He returned from exile to become the governor of the richest state in Nigeria in terms of commerce, and since then he has fought many battles to give life and meaning to democracy.
“As governor, he fought and won a war against undemocratic elements when the tenure of a sitting president was about to be extended through constitutional amendment.
“He fought in court to reclaim mandates and restore governors and others against the wishes of the ruling party.
” He built bridges across the nation and is currently taking life away from parochial structures that have crippled our existence as a nation.
“As we celebrate the 26th anniversary of the return to democracy, I declare him the Living Democratic Hero of Nigeria.”
