The Nigerian government has initiated the payment of N35,000 wage award arrears to its federal workers. This development was confirmed on Monday by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) through a statement from its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa.

According to the OAGF, numerous federal government employees confirmed receiving the payment on Monday. The statement further clarified that the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Babatunde Ogunjimi, emphasized that he never stated the N35,000 wage award was excluded from the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget.

The OAGF also noted that the Accountant General of the Federation did not brief the press on the wage award issue, and reassured that all outstanding arrears would be paid as committed by the government. The disbursement plan involves paying the N35,000 in installments spread over five months.
