Northern politicians have failed the region – Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani says
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has openly criticized northern political leaders, stating they have failed the region and must apologize to the people.
Speaking during an interview with TRUST TV, Sani emphasized that while constructive criticism of the government is essential in any democracy, it should serve the people’s interests and not be motivated by personal political ambition.
He acknowledged his own role in the system, noting that the problems in northern Nigeria stem from decades of neglect and underdevelopment, not just recent years.
“All of us who have held office in the past 20 years — senators, governors, ministers, even former vice-presidents — share responsibility for the region’s decline,” he said.
The governor pointed out that despite the substantial funds spent on social interventions during former President Buhari’s administration, the North became poorer due to widespread financial exclusion.
Sani urged political leaders to stop misleading the public and commended critics who offer honest, ethical assessments. He stressed the importance of accountability and sincerity in addressing the region’s challenges.
