UK conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch to ban migrants who claim benefits from becoming UK citizens
UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has announced a strict new immigration policy to prevent migrants who have claimed benefits or used social housing from becoming British citizens.
Under the new rules, applicants must prove financial self-sufficiency, ensuring they contribute to the economy rather than rely on public funds. Those with criminal records or who arrived illegally will be permanently barred from settling in the UK. Work visa holders who leave their jobs will face deportation.
The waiting period for citizenship will also increase from one year to five. Badenoch, acknowledging past immigration policy failures, emphasized that UK citizenship is a privilege, not a right.
She criticized Labour’s approach, arguing it would make it easier for illegal immigrants to stay. Tory sources revealed she is considering withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights and the UN Refugee Convention to strengthen migration control.
Her stance highlights the Conservative Party’s effort to counter the rising influence of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
