N110 billion charges: High court remands Yahaya Bello in Kuje Prison till 2025
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has ordered the remand of Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State, at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending his bail application hearing.
Bello, along with co-defendants Umar Shoaib Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, faces a 16-count charge of alleged N110 billion money laundering. All three pleaded not guilty.
The trial judge, Maryann Anenih, rejected Bello’s bail application, citing that it was filed prematurely before his arrest. The court granted bail to his co-defendants under strict conditions, including a N300 million bond, two sureties with Maitama properties, and the submission of their passports.
The case is adjourned to January 29 and 30, as well as February 25 and 27, for further proceedings.
