EFCC confirms arrest of Bobrisky in an attempt to flee the country
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media personality Bobrisky at Murtala Muhammed International Airport as he attempted to leave the country.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, Bobrisky was detained due to claims made in an audio conversation that surfaced in October, released by social critic Very Dark Man. In the recording, a voice allegedly belonging to Bobrisky claimed he paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges filed against him earlier this year.
Oyewale stated that Bobrisky was detained to assist in investigating these bribery allegations. Bobrisky had been summoned earlier for questioning regarding the recording but reportedly failed to comply, leading to his arrest. However, Bobrisky has denied being the individual speaking in the audio tape.
