It’s fake – Bobrisky denies bribing EFCC officials with N15m

Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has denied recent allegations claiming he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million.

The accusation surfaced on Tuesday night when influencer Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording allegedly featuring Bobrisky. In the recording, Bobrisky supposedly claimed to have paid N15 million to ensure the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against him. Additionally, he allegedly stated that he avoided serving time in prison following his conviction and six-month sentence, crediting his godfather for arranging for him to serve his sentence in a private lodge instead of behind bars.

Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2024 for naira mutilation, quickly responded to the allegations. He dismissed the viral recording as fake, asserting that he did serve his time in prison and did not bribe any officials.

In an Instagram post, Bobrisky said: “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison.

“I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
