Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith – IK Ogbonna calls out CAN over ‘fake miracles’
Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the rising trend of “fake miracles” in some churches. In an Instagram post, Ogbonna condemned the misuse of God’s name, calling it a betrayal of the gospel. He urged the federal government and CAN to regulate these practices and hold those responsible accountable. He described it as heartbreaking and a mockery of Christianity
His comments followed a viral video from The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, where members shared bizarre testimonies. In one instance, a woman claimed she overpowered armed robbers by declaring, “I’m a chosen,” while another man said a lion saved him from kidnappers. A third testimony involved a man surviving attacks without injury.
“It is heartbreaking to see pastors faking miracles to deceive and exploit the vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit, he said
“To those pastors, it is time to reflect. Using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. The victims should remember that their faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception.
“Let us also be cautious not to get carried away by social media trends that ridicule and disrespect our faith. Christianity should never be used as a tool for views, likes or viral content.
“I call on government and religious bodies like the CAN to step up, regulate, and hold bad actors accountable. Christianity is not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand to protect the integrity of our faith!”
