If you removed fuel subsidy, show us where it is going into so it can be tracked – Peter Obi tells FG

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has called for transparency in the allocation of funds saved from the removal of Nigeria’s fuel subsidy.

He raised concerns about the growing national debt and the rising cost of living, despite the removal of the subsidy. He questioned the overall impact of the policy on everyday Nigerians. as rising national debt and living costs continue to affect citizens.

Obi also spoke passionately about safeguarding democracy in Nigeria. He called for the use of biometric systems to improve electoral transparency and urged for more scrutiny in how Nigeria borrows and spends money. According to him, prioritizing urgent areas of national development is key to ensuring long-term progress.

When asked about Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate who recently expressed confidence in winning the 2027 election, Obi made it clear that his focus is on addressing the current challenges facing Nigerians. He stressed that he isn’t desperate for the presidency and is more concerned with the present struggles of citizens.

Obi also advocated for stronger democracy through biometric voting systems and scrutiny of Nigeria’s borrowing and spending.
